Chasing the mighty barra
by Jared
(Western Australia)
Finally a dry season barra
Kununurra is a really top spot, if you like adventure that is. It is a place that is too good to be true when you find the heart of the landscape, natural beauty with many unexplored water falls, creeks and river systems which makes for very exciting adventures.
Fishing is world class with lots of different species to target, (although Barra is the prime target) a few crocs here and there to keep you on your toes at all times, lots of rock fishing spots, rapids and slow creeks to focus on. Every weekend can be packed full of 4x4ing to a fishing spot, boating up the Ord river, hiking a few klms to experience a cool rock water hole. If you walk far enough up any creek that is flowing you will find a majestic water fall at certain times of the year. With plenty of fresh water springs around town there never is a dull moment.
We love it here.
