Discovery?

I read here that the Bungles were "discovered" in 1983, "established in 1987 and skyrocketed to world fame"...

Well, I was there in 1986 as part of Operation Raleigh: we discovered some "previously unknown" Aboriginal rock art... Good story? Did we help it shoot to fame? Is there any detailed archives/records etc? - I'd love to know and will see if there's any photos I can find (probably not as I spent the next 8 years in South America!)

Whether you helped it to world fame I don't know. Depending on what you did and how it was published you very well may have.

I can't tell you anything about records from that time. For that you'd probably need to contact the relevant government authorities. I'd try CALM and also the Department of Environment and Heritage.
