Don't miss the dawn!

by Stefano

Sunsets are spectacular at the Western Beach of Cape Leveque, but the dawns at the Eastern are also unmissable. We were lucky to be there at full moon in July and seeing it going down behind the lighthouse, while the wind was doing magic with the sand swivelling all around us (...3 in the whole beach), the birds beginning to fly and call...

I really miss Cape Leveque and the Kimberley...

I hope it stays like this, before eventually tourist "upgrading" will take the lead and it still will be a beautiful place but with less magic.

But for the moment every single moment is to be enjoyed and while writing I am still feeling the wind and the sun in my face.

The resort is also a strange place, a mixture of low key no frills place, but with some bits of attempt of glamour. This strange and in some way contradictory blend also adds to the place (once you have understood the place. Do not go there hit and run, 3 days are just enough to begin to appreciate the relaxed rhythm of the place.)

Dawn at Cape Leveque...
by: Birgit

Hi Stefano,
Thanks so much for your submission! You describe it so well, you make me want to go back there right now :-). I loved the dawns too, (and everything else,) especially since I could watch them from our beach hut without getting out of bed...

(What a shame that there is no way to stop the tourist "upgrading" that is happening all over the Kimberley...)
